Unlocking the Power of Classroom Talk: Teaching Kids to Talk with Clarity and Purpose-Book Study-Online

Prior to the first meeting, participants should obtain, and read, the book, “Unlocking the Power of Classroom Talk: Teaching Kids to Talk with Clarity and Purpose” written by Shana Frazon and Katy Wischow. Available at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

During this book study, participants will discuss the purpose of talk, the strategies, and how the strategies can be implemented in classrooms. This book study will challenge you to examine your existing lessons and incorporate talk strategies. During the second book study group meeting, participants will continue the discussion of talking with a purpose, and share out their lessons that include the talk strategies.

This course begins on Tuesday, October 12th and ends on Tuesday, November 16th, 2021. This course will be delivered via synchronous meetings through Zoom and asynchronous assignments in Microsoft Teams. An account will be provided to you before the class start date. Please note: District approval is needed for in-service credit. (15 CTLE Hours)
