AP Computer Science Principles Training-College Board-Online
When: Monday, April 17th and Wednesday, April 19th from 4:00 – 7:00 pm Synchronous Meetings
Audience: Secondary Educators
AP Computer Science Principles is an introductory college-level computing course that introduces students to the breadth of the field of computer science. Students learn to design and evaluate solutions and to apply computer science to solve problems through the development of algorithms and programs. They incorporate abstraction into programs and use data to discover new knowledge. Students also explain how computing innovations and computing systems-including the internet-work, explore their potential impacts, and contribute to a computing culture that is collaborative and ethical.
Please note: District approval is needed for in-service credit. (6 CTLE hours)
AP Course Skills and Practice-College Board-Online
When: Tuesday, May 9th from 4:00-7:00 pm Synchronous Meeting
Audience: Secondary Educators
This workshop will provide an overview of the intersection of skills that cross the 38 AP courses and exams and will address the skills that are critical for college and career success. This workshop will help all high school teachers (both AP and non-AP) understand how to build skill development within and across the curriculum. The workshop will address baseline skills and provide participants with an understanding of how the skills increase in complexity and strategies to address those more complex skills. Specific topics include:
*Teaching for understanding and transfer.
*Applying critical reasoning and thinking processes.
*Importance of practice and formative assessments.
*Using AP resources to enhance instruction.
